Nobu
Last night went to Nobu for early valentine’s dinner. It’s an upscale sushi fusion place in Malibu. My girlfriend has been there once before and wanted to go again. It’s easily the most expensive place I’ve gone to personally, but also the most delicious.

We made the drive from the 10 freeway to PCH and drove up that quite a bit before reaching the restaurant. I parked my Hyundai Sonata in between a Mercedes AMG and a Hummer
. Got seated at a tiny table next to an attractive couple that were really dressed up. The place was mostly casual so we didn’t dress up. It was her insistence because she was tired of dressing up from all the Dine L.A. fine dining she has been doing lately. I didn’t take any pictures, but I’ll google some to illustrate what we had:

Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and the tiradito were very delicious. Yes they are cut very thin but it soaks up so much flavor it just kicks.

Black cod with miso was amazing. My favorite dish. The flavor was delicious and the fish was so soft like butter. We also had delicious scallops topped with truffles (sorry no picture as it was an off menu special for that day). We also had usual fare sushi, which appearance wise were nothing special, but were very fresh and better quality than I’ve had elsewhere. I even ate the uni (sea urchin) which I normally dislike everywhere else.

The rockshrimp tempura in creamy spicy sauce. It was good, but I got tired of the creamy sauce after awhile. This is probably my least favorite. It was also the largest portion dish. Go figure.
Finally for dessert we had the bento box which is basically a chocolate souffle with green tea ice cream. This was the first time I had a real souffle and it was awesome. The green tea ice cream was also unique because it tasted like real green tea.
All in all it was very delicious, but expensive and small portioned as expected. Definitely glad I tried it, but doubt I’ll be back around anytime soon $_$.
