I got my very first laptop which happens to be my first Mac as well. I got the MacBook Pro with a 25% discount through my girlfriend’s co-worker’s cousin who is an Apple employee. That’s a big savings on a $2000 machine, and I also had some store credit from the iPhone rebate thing. So after tax it was about $1600. So far, I like it. It’s much faster than my desktop PC. I haven’t done too much with it yet. Not like I do much on my PC either. But it’s nice to surf from the bed or bring it around the house to chat while I watch TV.
Sounds like an expensive Internet machine, but I plan to do some things. I got the iPhone SDK and might see if I can develop something. It’s been awhile since I did any programming. I also played a bit with Garageband and mixing up some NiN songs. There’s lots of things I like about Macs. How pretty and simple apps are to use. The OS also has a lot of neat features built in that Windows doesn’t have built in. But most of these things are possible on Windows through third party apps and modifications. That’s the great thing about Windows, the development community I think is much greater and you’ll always have multiple options for everything. But those few Apple apps are just cooler than most Windows apps.
