IRC Friends and the Airport

Today was a busy day. A friend of mine that I only know from the Internet, or more specifically Internet Relay Chat, came down to my area from San Francisco. He came by to pick up some old DVDs I had sold to him (saves on shipping costs). Later, we met up at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, with another IRC friend. I used to think it was weird to meet people in person that I know from the online world, but I’m getting kind of used to it.

So after driving down to Santa Monica from the San Gabriel Valley, an hour later I drove back. Then after coming back home, I drove back in the other direction to LAX. My parents were leaving for a trip to Vietnam today, so pretty much as soon as I came back we were loading luggage and stuff to go to the airport. Airport was no fun.

Me.. in a way

Finals

Today’s the last of my finals. Thank god that’s over, but I think it only gets worse from here. I can’t wait to get these worries away, and just chill out, catch up on some FFXI, watch LotR several times, and watch some of my DVDs. But my parents are leaving for Vietnam next week, so I get some new responsibilities for awhile.

Vivi done

Finished up my animation project for my class final. Didn’t have as much time to really make it refined, but it’ll be good enough for my grade. Rendering took a while, I finished 30 minutes before I have to go to school and turn it in. Better get going!

You Think You Have A Lot of Games?

I thought I had a lot of junk but jeez. Check this guy’s collection out.

There are a lot of things in there I never knew existed. Oh, and warning to dial up users, lots of pics.

update:
I guess they guy used up all his webspace bandwidth, they are all x’s now. Oh, and I fixed my sound problem. I turned off my surge protector unplugged everything and unplugged them back in and now no more sound drop outs.

Sound Problems

Lately I’ve been having problems with the sound on my computer. Whatever I play, it seems to skip occasionally. It’s not the mp3s or the player, because it occurs even when I play games. I started to think it may be my A/V receiver I have my computer hooked to, but when I use my game consoles, the sound is fine. So I guess it’s either my computer or the connection to the receiver, but I doubled checked the cable and it’s not loose. I’m using a digital cable from the spdif output on my Sound Blaster Live. It almost seems like it’s happening because of little power surges or something. I’m almost certain it’s the digital connection, because I plugged some headphones into the analog output and there’s no skipping, though I may need to double check.

update:
It is definately only happening on the digital output as the analog output is fine. I moved the sound card to a different slot and also changed the “coaxial” audio cable, but same problem. I may try a clean Windows install to see if that helps, but I don’t see why it should. I may also try a different surge protector as it seems to be power related. If all that fails, then it would be safe to say my sound card is screwed, or at least the digial i/o add-on card is. Hmm, I always wanted to get an Audigy 2.

Xbox of Steel

“According to the police report, Kersey emerged from his bedroom at 2 a.m. brandishing an automatic pistol. Rather than shoot his roommates, Kersey took aim at the offending Xbox and fired a single shot at the console. While the bullet’s impact disabled the Xbox, its thick plastic casing deflected the 9mm round, which ricocheted away harmlessly.”

Maybe they’ll replace kevlar with Xbox’s strapped to their chest.

Project: Vivi

As part of my final for school, I’m going to model the Final Fantasy IX character, Vivi. I will also make a short animation of him. I will be posting my progress in the gallery. I haven’t had a lot of time to work on it because of my other project for King Dino. I’ve spent like 30+ hours working on an animation of a trooper. Unfortunately, because of nondisclosure stuff I can’t show that.
